چکیده

For the game of complete information with multiple principals and multiple common agents discussed by Prat and Rustichini (2003), we construct a general set of equilibrium transfers which implement any efficient outcome as a weakly truthful equilibrium, and the subset of such equilibria that are Pareto optimal for the principals. We provide conditions under which the general set completely characterizes the set of all weakly truthful equilibria implementing a given efficient outcome. In addition, we show that as long as payoffs are concave any efficient outcome can be implemented with principals using affine strategies. JEL-Classification: C72, D62, L14, L24.

Games Played through Agents

We introduce a game of complete information with multiple principals and multiple agents. Each agent makes a decision that can affect the payoffs of all principals. Each principal offers monetary transfers to each agent conditional on the action taken by the agent. We characterize pure-strategy equilibria and we provide conditions — in terms of game balancedness — for the existence of an equili...

Rare Nash Equilibria and the Price of Anarchy in Large Static Games

We study a static game played by a finite number of agents, in which agents are assigned independent and identically distributed random types and each agent minimizes its objective function by choosing from a set of admissible actions that depends on its type. The game is anonymous in the sense that the objective function of each agent depends on the actions of other agents only through the emp...

A Foundation for Markov Equilibria in Infinite Horizon Perfect Information Games

We study perfect information games with an infinite horizon played by an arbitrary number of players. This class of games includes infinitely repeated perfect information games, repeated games with asynchronous moves, games with long and short run players, games with overlapping generations of players, and canonical non-cooperative models of bargaining. We consider two restrictions on equilibri...

On the Interplay between Games, Argumentation and Dialogues

Game theory, argumentation and dialogues all address problems concerning inter-agent interaction, but from different perspectives. In this paper, we contribute to the study of the interplay between these fields. In particular, we show that by mapping games in normal form into structured argumentation, computing dominant solutions and Nash equilibria is equivalent to computing admissible sets of...

Reaching correlated equilibria through multi-agent learning

Many games have undesirable Nash equilibria. For example consider a resource allocation game in which two players compete for an exclusive access to a single resource. It has three Nash equilibria. The two pure-strategy NE are efficient, but not fair. The one mixed-strategy NE is fair, but not efficient. Aumann’s notion of correlated equilibrium fixes this problem: It assumes a correlation devi...
